I am proud to announce 2 of my biggest shows ever. Urbanites and Salad 2.0. Also, the DeCordova Museum is showing a couple pieces of mine at Build Boston. All details below. Come out and support the local art scene.
Urbanites November 18 – December 16, 2010 Opening Reception: Thursday, Nov 18, 6 -9pm Historically, artists have often found the “city” as a muse. The energy, technology, population, monumental structures, and pace of life can easily be inspiring. The translation and resulting representation of urban influence may vary from dark and dismal to magnificent, palatial, or even serene. It is this individual absorption of the metropolitan experience that formulates one’s own take on citylife, and the artwork that may stem from it. Corresponding with this theme, The Distillery Gallery presents “Urbanites”, a show of artwork that exhibits reflections of experiences within cities. 2D and 3D works will form a survey of responses to urban stimuli, while the gallery itself – located within a mid-19th century rum distillery – will also serve as a character in the exhibit, still donning many traits indicative of its former industrial use within the city limits of Boston. Curated by Scott Chasse, this exhibit will feature Boston-based artists Josh Falk,Sean Flood,Kenji Nakayama, and Adam O’Day; Brooklyn-based artist Chris Smith; and the Philadelphia-based artist Chris Clark. http://gallery.distilleryboston.com/?tag=southie
SALAD 2.0 At Lot F Gallery OPENING: FRIDAY NOVEMBER 19TH 7:00-11:00PM SALAD 2.0 WILL RUN UNTIL DECEMBER 15TH
Artists and craftspeople of South Boston will open their doors to the public Saturday and Sunday, November 6 & 7, 2010 as part of the annual South Boston Open Studios event. Visitors will be able to talk to and make purchases directly from the artists while touring the creative environments in which the artwork is produced. The weekend-long event also provides a great opportunity to sample many of this historic neighborhood's restaurants, cafes, pubs, and retail shops.
Numerous disciplines will be represented throughout the dozens of participants, including: sculpture, painting, drawing, printmaking, installation, photography, video, jewelry, ceramics, woodworking, fabric and performance art. Much of the work will be in-process and the artists will be on hand for questions and conversations. Participating organizations and galleries include The Distillery artists building (which will showcase two galleries and over 40 artists) located at 516 East 2nd Street, and the studios at King Terminal (just a few blocks away) next to the intersection of E 1st & Summer Street.
